All of Nio's models support battery swap, which provides consumers with an additional BaaS (battery as a service) purchase option where they buy the vehicle body and rent the battery pack.

Under the BaaS program, the starting price is RMB 268,000 for the facelifted ES6 and RMB 288,000 for the new EC6, with monthly rentals of RMB 728 for the standard 75-kWh battery pack, and RMB 1,128 for the 100-kWh long-range battery pack.

Nio is now allowing customers to lock in their orders for the updated Nio ES6, EC6 and their deliveries will start on May 20.

Customers who lock in their orders on or before June 30 will get up to four free battery swaps per month for five years and five years of free NOP+ (Navigate on Pilot Plus) usage.

Nio is also giving away a free AC charging and discharging kit for purchases made on or before June 30, and allowing customers to replace that entitlement with a RMB 5,000 option fund.

The ES6 is a standard SUV with length, width and height of 4,854 mm, 1,995 mm and 1,703 mm respectively and a wheelbase of 2,915 mm.

The EC6 measures 4,849 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width and 1,697 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm.

Like their predecessors, the updated ES6 and EC6 continue to be powered by dual electric motors that can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.5 seconds and 4.4 seconds, respectively.

The upgrades to the updated ES6 and EC6 focus on safety and comfort, with few changes to the exteriors.

Their center screens have been changed from the previous vertical ones to a horizontal AMOLED screen similar to the one found on Nio's ET9 executive flagship sedan.

Both updated models are powered by one Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip developed by Nio in-house, which the company said has the same computing power equivalent of four Nvidia Orin X chips.

The 2024 Nio models come standard with four Nvidia Orin X chips. The Nio ET9 comes with two Shenji chips.

The updated ES6 and EC6 are equipped with Nio's in-house developed Sky OS vehicle operating system and bring 15 chassis upgrades.

To highlight the safety of the updated models, William Li, founder, chairman and CEO of Nio, personally drove an updated ES6 in a live video stream earlier today in a tire blowout test at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

The ES6 is Nio's single most important model, with 75,433 units delivered in 2024, contributing 33.98 percent of Nio Inc deliveries and 37.49 percent of the Nio brand, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
