Nio's (NYSE: NIO) updated ET5 sedan and ET5 Touring wagon show cars became available at its stores in China today, as planned, with three days to go before the launch.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker shared several images on Weibo showing some visitors checking out the updated ET5, ET5 Touring, which will be officially launched on May 25.
Customers who pre-order the facelifted ET5, ET5 Touring now will get five years of free battery swap services, or 240 free battery swap service vouchers, Nio emphasized.
The company started pre-sales of the refreshed ES6 SUV (sport utility vehicle), EC Coupe SUV, ET5, ET5 Touring on May 10. The refreshed ES6, EC6 were launched on May 16 and deliveries started on May 20.
These four models have received slight tweaks to their exteriors, with the main changes being to the interior and the autonomous driving chip.
Their center screens have been changed from the previous vertical ones to a horizontal screen similar to the one found in Nio's ET9 executive flagship sedan.
The smart driving chip they come with switches from the previous four Nvidia Orin X chips to a single Shenji NX9031 chip developed by Nio in-house.
Other upgrades are mainly in comfort, such as upgraded front side window glass that cuts out up to about 99.9 percent of ultraviolet rays and 85 percent of infrared rays.
While the updated ES6 and EC6 receive feature upgrades, the starting prices remain unchanged at RMB 338,000 ($46,910) and RMB 358,000 respectively.
Nio will likely follow the same strategy for the updated ET5 and ET5 Touring, which both start at RMB 298,000 for the 2024 model year.
These four models are crucial to Nio, delivering a combined 180,038 units in 2024, contributing 81 percent of Nio Inc's 221,970 deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Other models under the Nio brand include the more expensive ET9, ES8, ES7, EC7 and ET7.
Nio Inc delivered 23,900 vehicles in April, including 19,269 under the Nio brand, 4,400 for Onvo, and 231 for Firefly, according to data it released earlier this month.
In the January-April period, Nio Inc delivered 65,994 vehicles, up 44.49 percent year-on-year.
