Avatr Technology, the electric vehicle (EV) brand backed by Changan Automobile (SHE: 200625), CATL (SHE: 300750), and Huawei, has launched the Avatr 06, after starting pre-sales of the new sedan last month.
Avatr officially rolled out the Avatr 06, its second sedan after the Avatr 12, at a launch event last night with a starting price of RMB 209,900 ($28,750), lower than the pre-sales price of RMB 215,900.
The five-seater's length, width and height are 4,855 mm, 1,960 mm and 1,450/ 1,467 mm respectively, and its wheelbase is 2,940 mm.
The dimensions are larger than Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 electric sedan, which has length, width and heights of 4,724 mm, 1,848 mm, 1,430 mm and a wheelbase of 2,875 mm, according to its regulatory filing information.
The Avatr 06 is available in two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, as well as three battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants, the third Avatr model to offer both BEV and EREV variants.
On August 21, 2024, Avatr released an extended-range system called "Kunlun", which was first used in the Avatr 07 SUV (sport utility vehicle), which went on sale in September 2024.
On December 2, 2024, Avatr launched the updated Avatr 11, its second model to offer both BEV and EREV options.
The Avatr 06's two EREV variants start at RMB 209,900, RMB 239,900 and its three BEV variants start at RMB 219,900, RMB 249,900, RMB 279,900 respectively.
The two EREV variants are single-motor rear-wheel drive models with a peak motor power of 231 kW and peak torque of 367 Nm, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds.
They use a 1.5T engine as a range extender that can be used to charge the battery.
Both variants are powered by a 31.7-kWh capacity Freevoy Battery from CATL, with a CLTC battery range of 230 km.
CATL introduced the Freevoy Battery for the hybrid cars in October 2024, offering a range of up to 400 kilometers and supporting 4C fast charging.
The Avatr 06 EREV has a CLTC range of 1,190 kilometers on full fuel and full charge.
The two lower-priced variants of the Avatr 06 BEV are single-motor rear-wheel-drive models with 252 kW of peak motor power and 365 Nm of peak torque that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
The highest-priced BEV variant is powered by dual electric motors with 188 kW of peak power and 280 Nm of peak torque in the front and 252 kW of peak power and 365 Nm of peak torque in the rear. This powertrain allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The Avatr 06 BEV comes standard with CATL's Shenxing Battery with a capacity of 72.88 kWh, and has a CLTC range of 650 kilometers for the two rear-wheel drive models and 600 kilometers for the four-wheel drive version.
The Shenxing Battery was released in August 2023 and supports 4C fast charging.
Avatr said the Avatr 06 BEV can charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in less than 10 minutes and from 0 to 80 percent in less than 17 minutes.
The lowest-priced versions of each of the Avatr 06 EREV and BEV variants come with Huawei's ADS SE driver assistance system and no LiDAR in the hardware.
The other three variants are equipped with Huawei's ADS system and the hardware includes a 192-channel LiDAR.
Avatr currently sells two sedan variants, Avatr 06 and Avatr 12, and two SUV variants, Avatr 07 and Avatr 11. It also has two limited edition variants, Avatr 011 and Avatr 012.
The brand delivered 10,475 vehicles in March, up 108.83 percent year-on-year and up 102.14 percent from February, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first quarter, Avatr delivered 24,483 vehicles, up 68.48 percent year-on-year.
Avatr aims to achieve global sales of 400,000 units by 2027 and annual revenues of RMB 100 billion, Changan chairman and Avatr chairman Zhu Huarong said at yesterday's event.
Avatr aims to achieve global sales of 800,000 units by 2030 and 1.5 million units by 2035, Zhu said.
In 2024, Avatr delivered 73,606 vehicles, an increase of 132.47 percent year-on-year.
