Chinese power battery manufacturer Hina Battery has rolled out a new battery solution targeting the commercial vehicle market.

Hina released the sodium-ion battery solution, called "Hina Battery · Haixing," at an event in Fuyang, Anhui province, on March 28, and introduced four products.

The solution uses battery cells with an energy density of over 165 Wh/kg and can be charged to 100 percent in 20-25 minutes, Hina said in an announcement today.

Even if fast charging is used all the time, the battery's cycle life can still exceed 8,000, according to the company.

When charging with fast chargers, the temperature of the battery pack rises by less than 10 degrees Celsius, Hina said, adding that the battery has stable discharge performance from -40°C to 45°C.

The solution reduces battery energy loss, improves power utilization, and provides reliable support for commercial vehicles, Hina said.

Hina has launched four products, the K150, K210, K280 and K350. The first two are mainly for use in short-distance transportation scenarios, while the latter two are mainly aimed at the logistics transportation sector.

Compared with existing conventional commercial vehicle battery solutions, Hina's sodium-ion battery solution can support greater output at significantly lower costs, said Hina's general manager Li Shujun.

Hina was founded in 2017 and released its sodium-ion battery that year.

Currently, Hina's sodium-ion batteries have been applied in electric two-wheelers, electric vehicles, and energy storage power stations, according to the company.

In December 2022, Hina's GWh-level sodium-ion battery production line saw its first product roll off the line.

In February 2023, Hina and Sehol, a brand owned by JAC and Volkswagen Anhui, jointly created a test vehicle equipped with a sodium-ion battery based on the latter's Sehol E10X model.

In January 2024, the battery manufacturer said that deliveries of the Yiwei 3 compact EV powered by sodium-ion batteries, jointly developed by Hina and JAC, had begun.
