More automakers are bringing DeepSeek's artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities into their vehicles' cockpits.

Zeekr, the premium electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of Holding Group, has already integrated its cockpit with DeepSeek, the EV maker's vice president, Lin Jinwen, said on Weibo yesterday.

Zeekr's in-house developed Kr AI large model has integrated the DeepSeek R1 model, and its cockpit virtual voice assistant, AI Eva, has completed integration with DeepSeek R1 and will soon go live.

AI Eva will have the ability to think deeply and provide users with more accurate answers, according to information shared by Lin.

Zeekr's smart cockpit team will continue to train the reasoning ability of Kr AI's large model based on DeepSeek R1 to improve the accuracy of the virtual assistant's understanding and prediction of users' vague intentions and hidden needs.

In addition, Dongfeng Motor's premium electric off-road brand, M-Hero, said today that it has completed the integration of its cockpit with DeepSeek R1.

M-Hero plans to bring DeepSeek R1 capabilities to the M-917 off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle) via an OTA (over the air) update by the April 2025 Shanghai auto show.

The upcoming biennial Shanghai auto show will be held from April 25 to May 2, with April 23-24 being press days.

Through continuous customized model distillation and AI training, M-Hero owners' cabin intelligence experience will be significantly enhanced, the brand said.

As DeepSeek's latest open-source model, DeepSeek R1 performance is comparable to OpenAI's o1 model, but with lower training costs.

DeepSeek's AI capabilities were widely recognized during the just-past Chinese New Year holiday and quickly became a hot topic.

Yesterday, local media outlet 36kr reported that the Zhiyin SUV (sport utility vehicle) model from Voyah, another sub-brand of Dongfeng, will be the first production vehicle to incorporate DeepSeek's AI models.

Voyah's smart cockpit has already completed deep integration with DeepSeek and is scheduled to kick off DeepSeek knowledge distillation training on February 14, according to the report.

Earlier this week, Geely Auto announced that its Geely Xingrui AI Large Model completed deep integration with DeepSeek.
