The Yangwang U8 made its debut in the UAE, where sales are expected to begin in 2025.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has opened a new showroom in the United Arab Emirates and given a model from luxury brand Yangwang its local debut.
The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker opened the new BYD flagship store, its second in the UAE, on September 12, together with partner Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company, on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.
The store covers an area of over 1,100 square meters with over 50 exclusive parking spaces, according to a statement today.
The store features a car display area, a technology experience area, a customer lounge and a sales negotiation area.
BYD showcased the Yangwang U8 at the store's opening ceremony, marking the UAE debut of the off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle).
The Yangwang U8 is expected to go on sale in the UAE in 2025, BYD said.
BYD launched the Yangwang brand in China on January 5, 2023, and launched the brand's first model, the Yangwang U8, on September 20 last year, with a starting price of RMB 1,098,000 ($154,790).
Deliveries of the Yangwang U8 began in China in November 2023, with a cumulative total of 8,250 units delivered to date, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Earlier this month, BYD said it conducted summer testing in the UAE of the Yangwang U8 and Fang Cheng Bao's Bao 5. Fang Cheng Bao is another BYD sub-brand.
BYD launched the Atto 3 in the UAE with Al-Futtaim on June 21, 2023, marking its official entry into the Middle Eastern country's passenger car market.
The Chinese NEV maker's first flagship store in the UAE opened at the end of November last year, located in Dubai Festival City Mall and occupying an area of about 800 square meters.
To date, BYD has launched five models in the UAE, including three battery electric vehicle (BEV) models -- Yuan Plus, Seal and Han; and two plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV ) models -- Qin Plus DM-i and Song Plus DM-i.
BYD will also open new stores by the end of the year in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Ras Al Khaimah, it said today.
