Zeekr's production line upgrade will continue until mid-August. It said it will challenge single-month deliveries of 30,000 units in the fourth quarter.
Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) saw cumulative deliveries reach 300,000 units, marking a milestone for the premium electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of Geely Holding Group.
Zeekr delivered its 300,000th vehicle, a Zeekr 009 Grand MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), on July 31, according to a press release today.
This means that Zeekr delivered about 15,500 vehicles in July, considering its cumulative deliveries through the end of June stood at 284,503 units.
The company delivered a record 20,106 vehicles in June, the first time it has surpassed the 20,000 mark. It is expected to announce July delivery figures later today.
Zeekr was founded in March 2021 and released its first model, the Zeekr 001 shooting brake, in April 2021, with deliveries beginning in October of the same year.
Its 300,000th vehicle delivery milestone comes 33 months after the delivery of the first vehicle.
Launched on April 19 this year, the Zeekr 009 Grand is an all-new model beyond the regular Zeekr 009, with a starting price of RMB 789,000 ($109,130), targeting the premium segment, including business owners.
Orders for the Zeekr 009 Grand in the three months since its launch have exceeded the planned annual capacity plan, Zeekr said today.
As is customary in the automotive industry, where hot summer weather is usually a period of equipment maintenance, Zeekr began a production line upgrade in late July that will last about three weeks and will continue through mid-August, it said.
The production line is being upgraded to meet the continued growth of new products and orders and to provide better products and services to customers, Zeekr said.
In addition, the move is also to prepare capacity for Zeekr's challenge of delivering 30,000 units in a single month in the fourth quarter of this year, it said.
On July 16, Tank, the premium brand of Great Wall Motor, had also announced that it would halt production its three factories until the end of July for maintenance to ensure they can operate safely in hot weather.
