Volume deliveries of the updated Aito M5 will begin on May 15. Customers who order the model before May 31 will receive RMB 37,000 worth of entitlements.

Aito, the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand backed by Chinese tech giant , has officially launched the updated Aito M5 SUV (sport utility vehicle), with an unchanged starting price but with Huawei's advanced intelligent assisted driving system as standard.

The new Aito M5 is available in three options, including two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants with starting prices of RMB 249,800 ($34,470) and RMB 279,800 respectively. The other variant is the battery electric vehicle (BEV) model with a starting price of RMB 269,800.

This means that the starting price of the new Aito M5 has not changed from its predecessor.

Customers who order the model before May 31 will receive RMB 37,000 worth of benefits, including RMB 3,000 cash discount, RMB 12,000 worth of option fund, RMB 20,000 worth of city intelligent driving software package, and RMB 2,000 worth of front windshield insulation film.

The length, width and height of the new Aito M5 EREV are 4,785 mm, 1,930 mm and 1,625 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,880 mm. The height of the Aito M5 BEV is 1,620 mm, all other figures being the same.

For comparison, the old Aito M5 has a length, width and height of 4,770 mm, 1,930 mm, 1,625 mm and a wheelbase of 2,880 mm.

The updated Aito M5 BEV and the lower-priced Aito M5 EREV are powered by a rear motor with a maximum power of 200 kW and a maximum torque of 360 Nm.

The higher-priced Aito M5 EREV is equipped with dual electric motors with maximum power of 165 kW and 200 kW and torque of 315 Nm and 360 Nm respectively.

The updated Aito M5 EREV is powered by a Li-ion ternary battery pack with a capacity of 42 kWh in both variants and a CLTC battery range of 255 km, 230 km. On a full tank of fuel and a full charge, the combined range of these two variants is 1,440 km, 1,275 km respectively.

The updated Aito M5 BEV is powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 83 kWh and a CLTC range of 602 km.

Aito will start volume deliveries of the updated Aito M5 on May 15, Huawei said.

Aito is a premium car brand launched on December 2, 2021 by local carmaker Seres Group in association with Huawei.

The M5 is Aito's first model, which was initially announced on December 23, 2021.Aito's current models on sale also include the M7 series, and the M9.

Aito delivered 31,727 vehicles in March, up 762.38 percent year-on-year and 50.07 percent from February, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
