Geely Auto Group will unveil a new model for the Galaxy lineup at the upcoming 2024 Beijing auto show in response to increasing competition.

A tech flagship SUV for the Galaxy array will be unveiled on the first day of the Beijing auto show on April 25, Geely announced today.

The automaker didn't provide any more details, but shared an image of the model showing that it could be a large SUV.

The 2024 Beijing auto show will be held from April 25-May 4, with press days from April 25-26 and public days from April 27-May 4.

Galaxy is Geely's new product array launched on February 23, 2023, to target the mainstream plug-in hybrid and pure-play electric vehicle (EV) markets.

Geely plans to launch a cumulative total of seven models in the Galaxy lineup by 2025, including four plug-in hybrid models in the L-Series and three pure electric models in the E-Series, it said last February.

The Galaxy L7 SUV and the Galaxy L6 sedan were launched in 2023, both hybrid models.

In January, the Galaxy E8, the first all-electric sedan in the Galaxy array, went on sale with a starting price of RMB 175,800 ($24,300).

The new model Geely teased today could be the Galaxy L9. As the largest single digit, 9 is often used by Chinese automakers in the naming of their top-of-the-line models, such as the ET9 and Li L9.

At the launch of the Galaxy L7 on May 31, 2023, Geely said the Galaxy lineup will launch the L5 in the second quarter of 2024 and the L9 in 2025.

Geely Group sold 150,835 vehicles in March, including 28,435 battery electric vehicles (BEVs), 16,356 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), according to the company's April 1 announcement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The group sold 114,430 vehicles in China and exported 36,405 in March.
