Nio (NYSE: NIO) began the process of selecting the city to host Nio Day 2023, after launching preparations for the event about 2 months ago.
Since its inaugural edition in 2017, Nio Day has become an annual get-together for Nio users and friends, Nio said today on its mobile app, adding that every year, nearly 10,000 users come together in the same city to witness high moments that belong to Nio and its users.
From 2020, Nio has given the choice of the city where Nio Day is held to the users in the community to decide. In the 3 years that have passed, a total of 15 cities have participated in the bid, according to Nio.
As always, Nio requires that new candidate cities have not hosted Nio Day in the past 8 years.
Candidate cities need to have venues available for 14 consecutive days from December 1 to December 31, 2023, and the event's host day will be set on a Saturday, according to Nio.
Nio requires venues to be indoor or semi-indoor and can accommodate at least 8,000 people.
Nio car clubs in different cities can submit their interest in applying between July 21 and July 24, and the Nio Day organizing committee will conduct preliminary venue surveys from July 21 to July 25.
On August 5, the Nio Day organizing committee will nominate three candidate cities in preparation for the user voting process.
From August 7 to August 11, Nio will showcase the three cities in its mobile app.
From August 11 to August 13, users will be able to vote for the host city they support in the Nio App.
Nio kicked off preparations for the annual event on May 31 by recruiting members of its user advisory panel for Nio Day 2023 in China.
The company held its first Nio Day in Beijing on December 16, 2017, to unveil its first production model, the ES8.
The last such event, Nio Day 2022, was held on December 24 in Hefei, Anhui province, a city that is home to Nio's vehicle assembly plants, where it launched the EC7 as well as the new ES8.
There are no clues as to which new models or technologies Nio will launch at Nio Day 2023.
