Nio said it plans to launch a new NT 2.0-based model, the ET5 Touring, which will be delivered to customers starting in June.
Nio's (NYSE: NIO) monthly deliveries slipped further, but an additional new model, the ET5 Touring, will begin deliveries this month.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker delivered 6,155 vehicles in May, down 7.55 percent from April and down 12.37 percent year-on-year, according to data released today.
The deliveries included 2,396 SUVs, and 3,759 sedans, Nio said, without disclosing model-specific breakdowns.
Nio plans to launch a new model based on the NT 2.0, the ET5 Touring, a midsize smart electric wagon, which will begin deliveries to customers in June, the company said.
The ET5 Touring will be launched globally in June and start its delivery with the Chinese Market, it added.
In the January-May period, Nio delivered 43,854 units, up 15.81 percent year-on-year.
Cumulative deliveries of Nio vehicles reached 333,410 units as of May 31.
The company's co-founder and president, Qin Lihong, said in January that this variant of the ET5 would debut in Europe, where the model has been developed primarily for European consumers.
On March 9, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the latest batch of models that will be allowed to be sold in China, and the Nio ET5 touring was included.
The model in the catalog is available in black exterior and has a length, width and height of 4,790 mm, 1,960 mm and 1,499 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,888 mm, in line with the regular ET5 sedan.
The Nio ET5 touring is equipped with twin motors produced by Nio's electric drive systems division in Hefei, Anhui province, with a maximum power of 150 kW and 210 kW, respectively, and can support a top speed of 200 km/h.
On May 9, CnEVPost obtained two spy shots of the Nio ET5 touring, showing the model on the streets of Europe. Subsequently, more images of the model began to circulate on social media.
In addition to the ET5 touring, Nio is also expected to begin the first deliveries in June of the new ES8, which was launched at the end of last year on Nio Day 2022.
Nio made its new ES6 based on the NT 2.0 platform available on May 24, the fastest model from launch to delivery for Nio, with deliveries starting the same night as the launch.
On May 24, the all-new ES6 started delivery in 13 regions in China on the night of launch, Nio announced on Weibo in the early morning of May 25.
Nio will report unaudited financial results for the first quarter on Friday, June 9, before the US markets open, at which time it is expected to announce its guidance for second-quarter deliveries.
Considering it has already announced deliveries in both April and May, its guidance at that time will essentially be for June deliveries.
