Nio has begun deliveries of its flagship sedan ET7 to European consumers, 10 days after the Chinese electric vehicle company held a product launch there.

As the Nio Berlin event wrapped up, the company conducted face-to-face customer communication events and ET7 deliveries and test drives in four countries -- Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden, Nio co-founder and president Qin Lihong said in an article posted on the Nio App on Monday.

Nio made the first ET7 deliveries in Germany and the Netherlands, while customers from Denmark, Sweden and Norway test drove the sedan.

Many European customers had their first up-close encounter with the ET7 to experience the new performance, comfort and intelligence, according to Qin.

As a backdrop, Nio held the Nio Berlin launch event on October 7 European time to introduce the three latest models -- the ET7, EL7 and ET5 -- to European consumers. The EL7 is known as the ES7 in China.

Unlike the vehicles it sells directly in Norway and China, Nio offers a service it calls Nio Subscription in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden that only allows local consumers to lease vehicles, not buy them.

Notably, following the announcement of the plan, a large number of voices called for Nio to offer a purchase option as well.

William Li, the company's founder, chairman and CEO later admitted that Nio had underestimated the enthusiasm of many users for buying the company's cars and said it was open to a buy option.

Nio has not officially announced when it will open the purchase option in Europe, although a Twitter user yesterday said that Qin said it would happen before Christmas while speaking with local users in the Netherlands.
