CATL and BYD continued to dominate the lion's share of China's power battery installed base in August, although both of their shares declined from July.

China's power battery installed base in August was 27.8 GWh, up 121.0 percent year-on-year and 14.7 percent from July, according to data released Friday by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).

CATL continued to rank first with 12.99 GWh of installed base, or a 46.79 percent share. BYD remained in second place with 6.08 GWh, or 21.91 percent share.

Their market shares in August were lower than July's 47.19 percent and 25.23 percent, respectively.

CALB continued to rank third in August with a 5.62 percent share, down from 6.07 percent in July, and Gotion High-tech continued to rank fourth in August with a 4.76 percent share, up from 4.70 percent in July.

China's ternary battery installed base in August was 10.5 GWh, accounting for 37.9 percent of the total, up 97.1 percent year-on-year and up 7 percent from July.

CATL, CALB and Sunwoda are the dominant players in the ternary battery market, with 53.65 percent, 9 percent and 6.38 percent shares in August, respectively.

The country's lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery installed base in August was 17.2 GWh, accounting for 62 percent of the total, up 138.6 percent year-on-year and up 20 percent from July.

CATL, BYD, and Gotion are the dominant players in the LFP battery market, with shares of 42.65 percent, 35.18 percent, and 6.94 percent in August, respectively.

From January to August, China's power battery installation volume was 162.1 GWh, up 112.3 percent year-on-year.

Among them, 66.0 GWh of ternary batteries were installed, accounting for 40.7 percent of the total installed capacity, up 61.1 percent year-on-year, while 95.9 GWh of LFP batteries were installed, accounting for 59.2 percent of the total installed capacity, up 172.2 percent year-on-year.
