A convertible version of SAIC-GM-Wuling's Hongguang Mini EV will go on sale on September 1, the company said in a post today on its official WeChat account.
The model will be launched by Wuling in association with fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar, and the automaker hinted that the first open sales will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Young Chinese actress Zhou Ye will be the first owner of the convertible version of the Mini EV, for which she will also be the advertising spokesperson, according to Wuling.
"The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV convertible combines a liberal-romantic design language with a square mini body in a unique style," the company's article reads.
The car will be available in blue, green, and black body color options, with the soft-top canopy offered in red and black options. The model features bezel-less doors.
Wuling didn't mention any more details in today's article, but previous information indicates that the convertible version of the Hongguang Mini EV is called the Mini EV Cabrio and is based on the Mini EV Macaron.
The Mini EV Cabrio measures 3,059 mm in length, 1,521 mm in width and 1,614 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,010 mm.
The Mini EV Cabrio will be available in two range options, 200 and 300 kilometers, and will be priced between 40,000 yuan ($5,940) and 60,000 yuan, local media previously quoted Wuling dealers as saying.
Wuling first showed off the Mini EV Cabrio at the Shanghai auto show in late April last year, as seen in the following pictures taken by CnEVPost at the time.
The model features a power soft-top canopy that stows essentially level with the body and is equipped with a separate anti-roll bar, according to information previously announced by Wuling.
