BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY, HKG: 1211) said at the end of last month that two new variants of its flagship sedan Han, Han DM-i and Han DM-p, would start pre-sale soon. Now, the company has released the models' core specs.

The BYD Han family previously included two models, the EV and the DM, with the former being a pure electric model and the latter a plug-in hybrid.

On top of the Han DM, BYD has added two additional models, the Han DM-i and Han DM-p, with the former focusing on fuel economy and the latter having strong performance as its main feature.

The Han DM-i can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, and its fuel consumption is 4.2L per 100 km when the battery is running low, according to information released by BYD today.

The model's pure electric range includes two options, 121 km as well as 242 km, with a combined range of 1,300 km, according to BYD.

The Han DM-p can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, with a pure electric range of 202 km and fuel consumption of 5.2L per 100 km when the battery is low.

Both new variants come standard with a blade battery and are equipped with a DMS fatigue driving warning system, according to BYD.

They also come with a head-up display system with 22 sensing units and already support the 5G-connected DiLink 4.0 system.

In BYD's product array, the vehicles have EV, DM, and DM-i versions depending on the form of power. Where EV stands for pure electric, DM and DM-i versions are both hybrid versions, except that the latter focuses more on fuel economy.

BYD had previously launched the Tang DM-p model, which has more power than the DM model, but none of the models shown on its official website currently have this variant.

BYD said on February 24 that the Han DM-i and Han DM-p will soon be available for pre-sale.

When announcing the core specifications of these two new variants today, BYD did not mention pricing information. However, previous media reports suggested that the Han DM-i could be priced at RMB 220,000 ($34,513) - 300,000.
