BJEV produced 653 units in February, up 83.6 percent from 323 units in the same month last year. In the first two months, the company produced 1,684 units.

BJEV has had a glorious past, but last year's full-year sales of 26,127 units were equivalent to just two months of sales for leading EV startups including Xpeng Motors, Nio and Li Auto.

BJEV had been the No. 1 seller of pure electric vehicles in China for seven consecutive years from 2013-2019, including sales in 2017 that even surpassed Tesla as the global top seller of pure electric vehicles.

However, BJEV's business situation has continued to deteriorate in recent years. It sold 150,600 units in 2019 and plummeted to 25,914 units in 2020.

BAIC BluePark is now pinning its turnaround hopes on its Arcfox brand, which has two models, the Arcfox α-T SUV and Arcfox α-S sedan, with the former released at the end of October 2020 and the latter at the end of April 2021.

Sales figures for the Arcfox brand were released last year but are not available for January and February of this year.
