LFP batteries led ternary batteries in China for the seventh consecutive month.
China's January power battery installations rose 86.9 percent year-on-year to 16.2 GWh, but fell 38.3 percent from December, according to data released today by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).
Ternary batteries installed in January were 7.3 GWh, up 35.2 percent year-on-year, but down 34 percent from December.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery installations were 8.9 GWh, up 172.7 percent year-on-year, but down 41 percent from December.
This was the seventh consecutive month that LFP batteries led ternary batteries in China in terms of the installed base.
The combined installed base of the top 3 power cell makers was 12.7 GWh, accounting for 78.6 percent of the total installed base, the CABIA data show.
The top 5 and top 10 power cell makers had an installed base of 14.1 GWh and 15.3 GWh respectively, accounting for 87.1 percent and 94.8 percent of the total installed base respectively.
China's power battery production in January was 29.7 GWh, up 146.2 percent year-on-year and down 6.2 percent from December.
Among them, ternary battery production was 10.8 GWh, accounting for 36.5 percent of total production, up 57.9 percent year-on-year and down 5.4 percent from December.
LFP battery production was 18.8 GWh, accounting for 63.3 percent of total production, up 261.8 percent year-on-year and down 6.3 percent from December.
