The Model Y Performance is priced at RMB 387,900 ($60,750) in China, which is RMB 111,900 more than the price of the entry-level Model Y.
Deliveries of the China-made Tesla Model Y Performance will begin soon, the company said on Weibo.
"Welcome new owners to the Tesla family and join us in accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy," Tesla said, without providing more information.
The Model Y Performance is priced at RMB 387,900 ($60,750) in China, which is RMB 111,900 more than the price of the entry-level Model Y, according to Tesla's website.
The model is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, has a top speed of 250 km/h and an NEDC range of 566 km.
Earlier this month, Tesla sold out of available capacity in China this year for the entry-level Model Y. The start of Model Y Performance deliveries will help increase Tesla's sales in China and raise the average selling price.
On November 12, information on Tesla's China website showed that the entry-level Model Y's 0-100 km/h acceleration time has been changed from 5.6 seconds to 6.9 seconds, with delivery expected to take place in the first quarter of next year.
The model's estimated range has been changed from 525 km to 545 km, but it is worth noting that the mileage calculation standard has also been changed from the previous NEDC to CLTC.
Tesla has a short description of CLTC on its official website, showing that NEDC is the approach used based on the Chinese national standard GB/T 18386-2017, while CLTC-P is used based on the new national standard GB/T 18386.1-2021.
