Chery iCar's new pure electric model QQ Ice Cream, another challenger to the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, has appeared on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filing list.
Chery released the first teaser image of the line's newest product, the QQ Ice Cream, on July 19, and it will be available this year, with reservations set to open on August 24.
The filing shows that the car continues the cute design language of Chery's classic QQ model, with semicircular headlights that look like a pair of cat eyes and a charging port located below the central logo.
The model's length, width and height are 2,980/1,496/1,637mm, with a wheelbase of 1,960mm. Although both are three-door, four-seat models, QQ Ice Cream is larger than the Hongguang Mini EV.
Chery QQ Ice cream is equipped with a maximum power of 20kw electric motor, divided into lithium iron phosphate version and ternary lithium battery version.
The current Chery Little Ant targets the RMB 60,000 ($9,262)-80,000 price range, and the QQ Ice Cream is expected to target the Mini EV's price range of slightly over RMB 30,000.
Chery had released its first car eco-brand, iCar, in early June this year, and officially signed a contract with Alibaba Cloud.
Chery said at the time that the car supported by iCar ecology is not just a travel tool, but as a scene ecology that is more closely integrated with consumers' smart life scenarios.
The arrival of QQ Ice Cream is the first step for the iCar ecology to provide a new life experience for consumers, according to the company.
