Hainan province, located in the southernmost part of China, will launch pilot projects to speed up the construction of battery swap stations for electric vehicles there, according to a document released recently by the local Development and Reform Commission.
The document said the pilot industry focus is on cabs, ride-hailing services, buses, passenger shuttles, and medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
According to the document, the pilot cities include Haikou, Sanya, Danzhou, Yangpu, Qionghai, and Wanning.
The places to carry out the pilot include tourist stations around the island, highway service areas, gas stations, stations, ports, and airports.
For battery swap stations built in 2021 and 2022, the government will give a construction subsidy of 15 percent of the project's equipment investment. Each city and county can further increase the subsidy standard according to the actual situation, the document said.
The 2019 document shows a 15 percent financial subsidy for battery swap stations built before 2020, and for battery swap stations built in 2021-2025, the figure is 10 percent.
In addition, the 2019 document shows a subsidy of RMB 200,000 ($30,873) per GWh for battery swap stations built prior to 2020, and for battery swap stations built in 2021-2025, the figure is 100,000.
