Voyah, the premium new energy vehicle (EV) brand of Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor, announced Wednesday that the first production model, the Voyah FREE, has rolled off the production line and will begin deliveries in July.

The Voyah FREE is available in both extended-range and pure electric versions, with a price range of RMB 313,600 - 333,600 ($48,570 – 51,668) and a combined range of 860km. Its competitors include the Li ONE, ES6, and Model Y.

The Voyah FREE has a length, width and height of 4905/1950/1690mm and a wheelbase of 2955mm, slightly smaller than the Li ONE.

The car is equipped with 3 millimeter-wave radars and 9 cameras and 12 ultrasonic radars, and the active night vision system can identify pedestrians and animals within 150 meters in front of it. It comes with L2+ Advanced Intelligent Driving Assistance as standard across the range.

The extended-range technology version of the model has an NEDC range of 860 km, 505 km for the all-electric model, and 475 km for the 4WD version.

It has a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.6 seconds for the extended-range version and 4.8 seconds for the all-electric 4WD version.

Notably, unlike the Li ONE's 1.2T three-cylinder engine, the Voyah FREE is powered by a 1.5T four-cylinder engine from Dongfeng Motor.

The company says the Voyah FREE uses an engine that delivers a quiet, smooth experience, which is what the new extended-range technology should be, perhaps alluding to its superior technology to the Li ONE.

For a limited time, Voyah is offering consumers an RMB 5000 yuan discount on optional upgrades, including air suspension. The company is also offering consumers a limited-time interest-free loan for three years and free charging for life, among other benefits.
