TikTok's local competitor Kuaishou announced on March 7 that it has partnered with SAIC-GM-Wuling to sell limited-edition Wuling Hongguang Mini EVs at a discounted price.

A well-known influencer on the short video platform will a batch of Wuling Hongguang Mini EVs on the evening of March 8, with Kuaishou subsidizing the cars by RMB 5,000 ($766) each, bringing the price down to 27,800 yuan ($4,258).

This is Kuaishou's first attempt at selling a vehicle through live shopping.

CnEVPost previously reported that the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV sold a whopping 36,762 units in January, making it the world's top monthly electric vehicle seller and also the No. 1 monthly seller in China for five consecutive months.

SAIC-GM-Wuling, the manufacturer of the Hongguang Mini EV, also announced today the launch of the spring-themed "Hongguang Mini EV Macaron" in yellow, light green, and light pink.

The exterior of the model has been updated with the word "Macaron" embedded on the left side of the body, headlights with a retro design, and new wheels. The interior and features have also been upgraded.
