Tesla allows owners in China to try EAP features for free for limited time

Phate ZhangFebruary 16, 2021

Tesla today announced a limited-time free trial of Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) in China, allowing customers who have not purchased the package to try it out with features such as Automated Assisted Driving (NOA) and Automated Assisted Lane Change.

Tesla said that for owners who take delivery by February 15, 2021, they will be eligible for the EAP limited-time free experience from February 16 to 26, 2021, if they have not purchased EAP or Full Self-Driving (FSD) and their hardware meets the EAP feature requirements.

For owners who make a deposit by February 26, 2021, and take delivery between February 16 and June 30, they will be eligible for 30 days of EAP within 48 hours of delivery if they have not purchased EAP or FSD.

Tesla opened the EAP option in China on February 5 at a price of RMB 32,000 ($4,943), half the price of FSD in China.

EAP adds five functions compared to Basic Autopilot (BAP), including Navigate on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark.

With the optional EAP on, users only need to turn the turn signal all the way down and the vehicle can automatically change lanes after turning on Active Cruise.
