Chinese city Xi'an will offer about $1,544 subsidy to owners who install charging piles

Various cities in China are taking steps to encourage the use of new energy vehicles, with the northwestern city of Xi'an being the latest.

In an effort to speed up the construction of local new energy vehicle charging and battery swap infrastructure, several government departments in Xi'an recently issued a joint document stating that a one-time subsidy of RMB 10,000 ($1,544) will be given to individuals for the installation of charging facilities.

The policy requires that the vehicle be purchased in Xi'an between September 25, 2020, and December 31, 2022, and that the charging pile be installed in the vehicle owner's own parking space.
