China has added more than 68,000 new energy vehicle-related companies in 2020, an 85 percent increase from 2019, according to regulatory data cited by data provider Tianyancha.

As of today, there are more than 200,000 new energy vehicle-related enterprises in China whose business scope includes "new energy vehicles, electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles" and whose status is active and in existence.

Among them, 88% of the enterprises are limited liability companies, and nearly 30% have a registered capital of more than RMB 10 million.

In terms of industry, 53% of the new energy vehicle-related enterprises are in the wholesale and retail industry, 15% in the scientific research and technology service industry, and 10% in the leasing and business service industry.

Guangdong Province has the largest number of new energy vehicle-related enterprises, with over 25,000. This is followed by Shandong Province and Jiangsu Province, with more than 19,000 and 18,000 enterprises respectively.

In addition, Henan Province, Hunan Province, and Zhejiang Province also have more than 10,000 new energy vehicle-related enterprises.
