The rumor was that Xiaomi and BYD will soon release the Qingyue S1, a “first car for young people” priced at RMB 84,999 yuan ($13,000).

A Xiaomi PR later said that there were no plans to build a car.

BYD said that the content was verified to be false and that BYD did not produce the model with Xiaomi.

BYD also said, "At present, our company has taken evidence for the relevant information in accordance with the law, and will subsequently defend the reputation of the enterprise through legal means."

A poster circulating on Weibo today shows that Xiaomi is about to release its "first car for young people" jointly with BYD - Qingyue S1.

Judging from the promotional image, the car was supposed to be a convertible electric model with a pre-order price of RMB 84,999 yuan.

Meanwhile, some Weibo users say that Xiaomi will also officially launch the "Xiaomi Blue Sky Program" and that users must arrive at a designated BYD dealership to pick up the car after making a reservation.

They say the car will have a three-phase induction motor with a maximum speed of 210 km/h and rear-wheel drive with 310 kW of power and liquid-cooled technology.
