Chinese electric vehicle maker (NASDAQ: LI) said on Weibo on October 18 that it had delivered more than 20,000 Li ONEs to customers in total, just 10 months after the model began deliveries in December 2019, the fastest record for a new Chinese carmaker to achieve such deliveries.

According to data released by China Automotive Technology and Research Center on October 12, Li ONE had 3,830 insurance registrations in September, and cumulative insurances from January to September were registrations was 18,722 units.

The ES6 had 3,271 insurance registrations in September, while the Tang DM and Model X ranked third and fourth respectively, with 2,001 and 1,977 insurance registrations.

Although the Nio ES6 is slightly lower than the Li ONE in terms of insurance registrations, the higher-positioned ES8 also achieved 1,493 insurance registrations in a single month, meaning Nio's total SUV insurance registrations are still higher than the Li ONE.

The gap between the two companies is expected to widen as the EC6's accumulated orders gradually translate into sales.

Since December last year, Li ONE has implemented eight OTA software updates to improve the user experience.

In October, five Li Auto retail centers will open in Xining, Haikou, Wenzhou, Weifang, and Nantong, and in the fourth quarter of this year, Li Auto retail centers will further cover Shanxi, Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Jiangxi, and Ningxia provinces.

By the close of the US stock market on October 16, Li Auto closed at $19.77, with a total market capitalization of about $16.5 billion.
