The much-anticipated Hongqi H9 sedan went on sale today, including five models priced between RMB 309,800 ($44,782) and 539,800 yuan.

As the new flagship model of Hongqi's H-series, Hongqi H9 is known as the China-made Rolls-Royce by many Internet users, thanks to its sporty sliding-back design and ultra-luxury features.

The new car is positioned in the C-Plus segment, a bit higher than the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (RMB 429,800-623,800) and BMW 5 Series (RMB 426,900-5499,900).

Still, the Hongqi H9's starting price is more than RMB 100,000 below them.

In terms of price range, it overlaps with second-tier luxury brands like the Volvo S90 (RMB 372,900-505,900) and Cadillac CT6 (RMB 379,700-57,700) after discounts.

The Hongqi H9 comes with two powertrains: a 2.0T+48V and a 3.0-liter V6 mechanical supercharger. The 2.0T engine has a maximum power of 185kW and a peak torque of 380N-m, while the 3.0T engine has a maximum power of 200kW and a peak torque of 400N-m. Its drivetrain is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Hongqi H9 adopts a new family design language and will be available in two two-color versions and five monochrome versions.

Inside, the Hongqi H9 offers a sense of luxury with a touch of technology, with plenty of wood grain and leather trim.

It comes with a full LCD instrument cluster, a large central display and an aero gear knob.

In addition, a 4-seat version is available in addition to the regular 5-seat version.

The new car is equipped with the Red Flag Smile 1.0 vehicle engine system and L2.5 level autopilot system, which enables fully automatic parking and advanced cruise control.

It also comes with active and passive safety features such as pre-collision braking system, lane keeping assist, and blind spot monitoring.
