Yangwang, the premium brand of (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has launched a new variant of its U8 off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle) and given the U7 sedan its debut.

The brand today rolled out the Yangwang U8 Off-road Master Edition on the first day of the Beijing auto show, with a starting price of RMB 1,098,000 yuan ($151,510), the same as the pre-sale price announced on April 18, 2023, the first day of the Shanghai auto show.

Yangwang is a sub-brand announced by BYD on January 5, 2023 to target the ultra-luxury market priced in the RMB 1 million range.

Yangwang began pre-sales of the U8 at last year's Shanghai auto show with two variants -- the Premium Edition and Off-road Master Edition -- both priced at RMB 1,098,000 yuan.

On September 20, 2023, the Yangwang U8 Premium Edition was officially launched, with a starting price of RMB 1,098,000 as in the pre-sale.

Deliveries of the Yangwang U8 Premium Edition began in November 2023, with a cumulative total of 5,523 units delivered by the end of March, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

The Yangwang U8 Off-road Master Edition is based on BYD e⁴ technology and is equipped with four electric motors boasting over 1,000 horsepower.

Compared to the Premium Edition, the Yangwang U8 Off-road Master Edition has been enhanced for off-road performance with a thermal management system better suited for off-road conditions and expanded load capacity.

Yangwang offers the U8 Off-road Master Edition with the option of a drone, which helps owners better understand their surroundings.

The new variant has a maximum wading depth of 1,400 mm, up from 1,000 mm for the Premium Edition.

Apart from the U8 Off-road Master Edition, Yangwang also gave the U7 sedan its debut today.

The Yangwang U7 will be a flagship sedan priced at the RMB 1 million level and will be officially launched in the second half of this year.

The U7 will be the first model to feature BYD's DiSus-Z intelligent body control system, which Yangwang said allows the vehicle to offer ride comfort beyond that of a maglev.

DiSus is a body control system released by BYD on April 10, 2023, and previously had three variants, including the intelligent vibration-damping body control system (DiSus-C), the intelligent air body control system (DiSus-A) and the intelligent hydraulic body control system (DiSus-P).

DiSus-Z's has ultra-fast regulation with a response time as fast as 10 ms, a BYD executive said at the Yangwang launch.

The Yangwang U7 has 1,300 horsepower and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 270 km/h.

The sedan's drag coefficient at 120 km/h is just 0.195 Cd, making it the world's lowest production car in terms of wind resistance, according to BYD.

The model is equipped with 3 LiDARs, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 13 cameras, and a smart driving chip with 508 Tops of computing power.
