The Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i are both mid-size sedans that will both go on sale in the second quarter and are expected to feature 's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology.

BYD has unveiled the Qin L DM-i, Seal 06 DM-i hybrid sedans at the Beijing auto show, which starts today, and they are both expected to be equipped with the company's next-generation hybrid system, which is expected to deliver ultra-low fuel consumption.

The Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i are mid-size sedans, part of BYD's Dynasty and Ocean series, respectively, and both will go on sale in the second quarter, the company said at today's event.

The Qin L is born from BYD's next-generation plug-in hybrid vehicle platform, which is more efficient, safer and more valuable, BYD said.

The Seal 06 will also be a model based on the new platform and will be equipped with BYD's new technologies, the company said.

BYD didn't directly mention the next-generation hybrid system at today's event, but apparently the Qin L DM-i and the Seal 06 DM-i are both expected to be built on the new platform.

On March 27, BYD chairman and president Wang Chuanfu said in an investor communication that the company will launch its fifth-generation DM hybrid technology in May, which will reduce fuel consumption to 2.9 liters per 100 kilometers on a low charge and give the vehicle a range of up to 2,000 kilometers on a full tank of fuel and full charge.

As the current model is in short supply, BYD will gradually make the switch to the fifth-generation DM model in May based on market conditions, Wang said at the time.

The Qin L measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm, while the Seal 06 DM-i measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm.

The Seal 06 DM-i will go on sale in the second quarter, with a price range of RMB 120,000 ($16,560) to RMB 150,000, BYD said.

BYD didn't mention a price range for the Qin L, but it's expected to be comparable to the Seal 06 DM-i, as they are similar in size.

BYD sold 302,459 NEVs in March, up 46.06 percent year-on-year and up 147.29 percent from February, according to figures it announced on April 1.

The Qin family sold 40,569 vehicles in March, up 150.6 percent from February.

The Seal family sold 13,443 vehicles in March, up 146.80 percent from February.
