Chinese robotics manufacturer Unitree has released the GD01 transformable mecha, with the starting price of the world's first mass-produced manned mecha set at 3.9 million yuan ($574,090).
The innovative product is explicitly defined as a transformable civilian vehicle, and its total weight after carrying a passenger is about 500 kilograms, according to an announcement on Tuesday.
Unitree did not disclose further details about the product, only sharing a one-minute video on Weibo and X.
In the demo video, Unitree founder Wang Xingxing sits inside the mech, which walks forward, and smashes a pile of bricks.
The video also shows that the GD01 can lean backward and transition into a quadruped form.

This is another major move by the company in the consumer market recently, having just announced the full opening of the world's first humanoid robot app store, UniStore, on Thursday.
At the end of last month, Unitree launched a dual-arm humanoid robot with a starting price of 26,900 yuan and opened its first direct offline retail store in Beijing's Wangfujing commercial district.
The new product launch comes at a critical time when the Hangzhou-based enterprise is in a period of rapid expansion and actively seeking to list on the domestic capital market.
Unitree is currently preparing for an IPO on Shanghai's STAR Market, planning to raise up to 4.2 billion yuan, primarily to fund embodied AI research and development and the expansion of its manufacturing bases.
Driven by the robust growth of its humanoid robot business, the company's annual revenue reached 1.708 billion yuan in 2025, achieving a massive year-on-year surge of 335.4%.
Its net profit excluding non-recurring gains and losses jumped nearly sevenfold to 600 million yuan, making Unitree one of the few general-purpose robotics companies to achieve substantial profitability.
Unitree ranked first globally in humanoid robot shipments last year, ahead of major global competitors actively expanding in the field, such as Tesla.
The release of the GD01 further enriches Unitree's product matrix and highlights its diversified layout in the robotics sector, spanning from humanoid robots to manned mechas.
