AUDI, the premium electric brand under SAIC Audi, has started pre-sales for its AUDI E7X electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), heavily integrating local technologies to cater to consumers.
The model, the second from the AUDI brand following the E5 Sportback, began pre-sales on Friday with a starting price of 289,800 yuan ($42,610).
The AUDI E7X made its official debut at the 2026 Auto China in Beijing last month, serving as the brand's latest offensive in the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) market.
Audi and SAIC jointly launched the AUDI brand in China on November 8, 2024, and its first model, the E5 Sportback, hit the market in September 2025.
AUDI is a sister brand created specifically by Audi for the Chinese market, using the fully capitalized AUDI letters as its logo rather than the traditional four rings.
The new brand strategy aims to attract a new generation of tech-savvy consumers in China who prefer German brands, with the E7X being a key component of the brand's first wave of product offensive.
The AUDI E7X measures 5,049 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width, and 1,710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm.
The new SUV heavily integrates local Chinese tech, coming standard with a 109-kWh large-capacity battery from CATL and built on a 900-volt high-voltage platform.
This gives the vehicle a range of up to 751 kilometers under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), and a 10-minute charge can replenish up to 429 km of range.
The vehicle is equipped with Chinese smart driving startup Momenta's R7 reinforcement learning world model, supporting complex autonomous driving scenarios such as navigating extremely narrow roads and merging onto highway ramps.
The interior cabin also incorporates deep localized innovations. The new car debuts the AI-empowered Audi Assistant 2.0 system and introduces ByteDance's Doubao AI model to enhance the interactive experience.
Despite the extensive use of Chinese technology, the E7X retains Audi's signature driving DNA. Its dual-motor version can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and is equipped with the quattro all-wheel-drive system.
The AUDI E7X is the second model in Audi's first wave of offensive in the Chinese EV market, with a third all-new model scheduled for launch in 2027.
Beyond these moves, the German automaker has already launched a second major offensive in China.
Last month, Audi and SAIC signed a strategic cooperation agreement to further deepen their partnership. The core of this agreement is the establishment of a new, exclusive innovation and technology center led by Audi in Shanghai, focusing on complete vehicle research and development.
Based on the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), a next-generation intelligent digital platform designed for future smart connected vehicles, the two parties will jointly develop and launch the first batch of four all-new AUDI brand models.
These new EV models will hit the Chinese market in the coming years, further expanding and complementing Audi's existing product lineup in China.
