Smart, the joint venture brand between Mercedes-Benz and Geely, will unveil the Smart #2 concept and host the global debut of the Smart #6 on April 22, in an event starting at 6 pm Beijing time.

Smart announced the schedule on Weibo on Thursday as part of its brand night, which takes place on the eve of the 2026 Beijing Auto Show.

The Smart #6 is the brand's first luxury hatchback sedan, designed specifically for the Chinese market. It is also the largest model in the brand's history, boasting a wheelbase of 2,926 millimeters.

The model will also open for pre-sales on the first day of the Beijing Auto Show, where the Smart #2 concept will share the stage.

In December last year, Smart filed regulatory documents for the Smart #6 EHD, revealing dimensions of 4,906 mm in length, 1,922 mm in width, and 1,508 mm in height.

The new car is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid system, featuring an engine with a maximum output of 120 kilowatts.

It offers a maximum all-electric range of up to 285 kilometers under the CLTC cycle. The comprehensive range of this super hybrid powertrain will exceed 1,000 kilometers, Smart previously said.

The Smart #2 prototype concept marks the return of the original classic two-seater.

Smart announced in September 2025 that it would launch the two-seater Smart #2 in 2026 as the successor to its ForTwo model.

The all-new Smart #2 will be launched in China, Europe, and other overseas markets, with a debut planned for late 2026, the company has said.

Born in 1998, the Smart brand targets the premium compact car market and was designed by Mercedes-Benz as a mobility solution for megacities.

On January 8, 2020, Mercedes-Benz and Geely established a new joint venture based on the Smart brand, headquartered in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, to bet on the transition to electrification.

The first-generation Smart ForTwo two-seat city car was introduced in 1998 and has sold more than 2 million units cumulatively.

The all-new Smart #2 will be produced in China and launched in China, Europe, and other overseas markets.
