GAC Aion has officially launched a new electric sedan named the RT Super, built on CATL's Choco-SEB battery swap solution.
The model starts at 88,800 yuan ($13,000) under a battery rental scheme, aiming to lower the initial purchase barrier for consumers by separating the ownership of the vehicle body from the battery.
Notably, the model is not offered in a version that includes the battery pack, unlike Nio — whose vehicles allow consumers to purchase via battery rental or buy the complete car including the battery.
RT Super owners can complete a battery replacement process in just 99 seconds within CATL's Choco swap network.
The model is equipped with a 54 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack provided by CATL, delivering a driving range of 505 kilometers.
In addition to obtaining a fully charged battery through a battery swap, the model also supports fast charging, taking 26 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.
The mid-size electric sedan measures 4,865 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm.
It is powered by a single motor with a peak output of 150 kW, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
Inside the cabin, the vehicle features the ADiGO 6.0 smart cockpit system and integrates Huawei's latest HiCar 4.0 smartphone connectivity function.
To attract more buyers, GAC Aion has introduced multiple incentives, including a lifetime warranty and lifetime data traffic.
The launch of the new model marks a further expansion of the CATL-led battery swap ecosystem in the Chinese market.
The battery giant is accelerating its infrastructure construction pace and plans to build more than 3,000 Choco swap stations by the end of 2026.
CATL's long-term strategic goal is to establish 30,000 battery swap stations nationwide, with plans to open a franchise model to more commercial partners in the future.
Other automakers, including BAIC's Arcfox, are also set to launch models based on CATL's battery swap solution soon.
