Xiaomi has started deliveries of its new-generation SU7 electric sedan and announced three track agreements, as it continues to emphasize its vehicles' sporty characteristics.

The company live-streamed the delivery ceremony for the first batch of vehicles on Monday. The upgraded electric sedan garnered over 15,000 locked-in orders within the first 34 minutes of its launch on March 19.

To meet strong consumer demand, Xiaomi prepared a batch of ready-to-deliver vehicles in advance for the upgraded SU7. These vehicles can be delivered within one to five weeks after the order is locked.

"Over the past two years, owners have had major complaints about our delivery speed. This time, we started production preparations two months in advance," said Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi.

The new-generation SU7 starts at 219,900 yuan ($31,810). This official starting price is only 4,000 yuan higher than the first-generation SU7, and it remains 15,600 yuan lower than the current starting price of rival Tesla's Model 3.

Lei said that the new-generation SU7 features over a hundred significant hardware and software upgrades, which increased the model's material costs by about 20,000 yuan.

To avoid exceeding consumers' car-buying budgets, the Beijing-headquartered company decided to implement only a symbolic price hike.

This sparked investor concerns that Xiaomi's profit margins on the sedan would be squeezed. On the day following the updated version's launch, Xiaomi's shares plunged 8.59% in Hong Kong. As of press time, Xiaomi fell another 2.41% in early trading.

While advancing new car deliveries, Xiaomi is also accelerating its expansion in the motorsport arena, officially signing title sponsorship agreements with three top-tier racing events in China.

The company has partnered with the China Touring Car Championship, the China GT Championship, and the China Endurance Championship, according to a statement earlier today.

Xiaomi's SU7 Ultra and YU7 SUV (sport utility vehicle) will serve as the official safety and medical cars for these three major events.

Lei noted that the racetrack is a touchstone for testing a car's quality and safety, and refining products to track standards will engrave the pursuit of high performance into the team's DNA.

This domestic track expansion follows Xiaomi's previous achievements on international circuits. In May 2025, Xiaomi became a premium partner of the Nürburgring track in Germany.

The mass-produced version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra set a lap record of 7 minutes and 04.957 seconds at the Nürburgring, making it the fastest mass-produced electric vehicle in the track's history.

The mass-produced SU7 Ultra boasts 1,548 Ps of power and starts at 529,900 yuan.

Xiaomi launched its updated SU7, with a starting price of 219,900 yuan ($31,870) — a significant reduction from the pre-sales price.
