Geely posts sales growth during holiday lull as exports surge 138% to record

• Geely Auto's February sales grew about 1% to 206,160 units, with record exports serving as the core growth engine.
• The Zeekr and Lynk & Co brands achieved significant growth against the trend, offsetting the decline in the main brand's sales.

Geely Auto (HKG: 0175) achieved sales growth last month despite the holiday slowdown, making it one of the few Chinese automakers to expand during this period.

The automaker recorded total February sales of 206,160 units, a 0.61% year-on-year increase, though down 23.69% from January, according to data released on Sunday.

Robust overseas demand emerged as the primary growth driver. Geely's February exports hit a record 60,879 units, surging 138.26% year-on-year.

Domestic sales in China totaled 145,281 units in February, down 19.00% year-on-year and down 30.71% month-on-month.

Within the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment, Geely's sales across different powertrain types showed significant divergence, with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) experiencing stronger growth.

February PHEV sales came in at 49,656 units, surging 89.31% year-on-year, though down 11.71% from January.

In contrast, battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales totaled 67,832 units, down 6.05% year-on-year and down 0.26% month-on-month.

The premium and personalized market-focused Zeekr and Lynk & Co brands emerged as key drivers of sales growth.

Zeekr brand sales reached 23,867 units in February, surging 70% year-on-year and increasing 0.06% month-on-month.

Lynk & Co also recorded 27,359 units sold in February, up 58.71% year-on-year but down 5.26% from January.

In contrast, Geely's main brand faced pressure, with February sales of 154,934 units — a 10.77% year-on-year decline and a 28.75% decrease from January.

Geely Galaxy brand sales in February totaled 73,125 units, down 3.95% year-on-year and down 11.89% from January, failing to sustain the rapid growth seen since last year.
