The third-generation ES8 SUV (sport utility vehicle) delivered 17,646 units in January, accounting for 64.92% of Nio Inc's (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866) total January deliveries of 27,182 units.
Nio disclosed its overall January delivery figures in an English statement on Sunday, later revealing the ES8's delivery volume in a Chinese article published on WeChat.
January's ES8 deliveries were nearly 40 times higher than the 446 units delivered in January 2025, though they represented a roughly 21% decrease from the record 22,258 units delivered in December 2025.
The Nio brand delivered 20,894 vehicles in January, with the ES8 contributing 84.45%, according to CnEVPost calculations.
Nio officially launched the third-generation ES8 at Nio Day 2025 on September 20, 2025, with deliveries commencing the following day on September 21.
On Sunday, Nio delivered its 60,000th third-generation ES8, just two weeks after reaching the 50,000th milestone.
In December, the all-new ES8 achieved retail sales of 22,258 units, making it China's best-selling large SUV, Nio said on Sunday, reiterating previously reported figures.
The model topped large SUV sales charts in six cities including Guangzhou and Shenzhen in December, with one in every five large SUVs sold in Guangdong province being the all-new ES8, it said.
The data clearly indicates the golden age of pure-electric large three-row SUVs has arrived, Nio said.
Data released yesterday by Nio Inc showed its Onvo sub-brand delivered 3,481 vehicles in January, down 41.12% year-on-year and down 61.97% month-on-month.
Its compact EV brand Firefly delivered 2,807 vehicles in January, a 60.38% decline from December.
More detailed delivery figures for its other models are expected to be available later this month.
