Li Auto's sales performance remained weak throughout 2025 as its L-series extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) faced intensified competition, while its i-series battery electric vehicles (BEVs) were in the early stages of production ramp-up.

The company's EREVs received only minor updates in 2025, while competitors aggressively equipped their EREVs with battery packs as large as 80 kWh, delivering experiences comparable to battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Last month, 36Kr reported that Li Auto is refocusing on its most certain business, with an overall strategic direction to reclaim leadership in the EREV segment.

According to 36Kr, the company would first prioritize upgrading the Li L9 in 2026, featuring a battery capacity exceeding 70 kWh and a single-charge range surpassing 400 kilometers.

Li Auto's new i-series BEV models continue to show weak performance months after launch.

Earlier this week, the Chinese automaker informed some Li i6 order holders that their vehicle deliveries would be delayed due to slower-than-expected production ramp-up for core components.

Li Auto encouraged them to opt for the version equipped with Sunwoda (SHE: 300207) batteries for faster delivery or to switch to another of the company's models.

The Li i6 was launched on September 26, 2025, with battery suppliers including CATL (HKG: 3750, SHE: 300750) and Sunwoda.

As of January 31, 2026, Li Auto operates 547 retail stores across 159 cities and 547 service centers and authorized service shops in 221 cities.

It also operates 3,966 supercharging stations across China, equipped with 21,945 charging piles.

But employees are more eager to hear about plans to reverse the sales slump.
