Changan Mazda announced Tuesday that its electric SUV model, the Mazda CX-6e, will enter the European market this summer, with Australia and New Zealand to follow later this year.
The CX-6e is the global version of Changan Mazda's EZ-60, which made its world debut at the Brussels auto show on January 9.
The model is Changan Mazda's second new energy vehicle (NEV) for global markets, following the EZ-6 sedan — known internationally as the Mazda 6e.
Changan Mazda, a joint venture between China's Changan Automobile and Japan's Mazda, is leveraging China's NEV supply chain and technological capabilities to expand overseas.
Martijn ten Brink, president and CEO of Mazda Europe, said that the CX-6e combines the g efficiency and performance consumers expect, accelerating the company's electrification strategy alongside the already launched Mazda 6e.
The CX-6e will help Mazda achieve its emissions reduction targets and expand its electric vehicle portfolio, he said.
The mid-size EZ-60 SUV was launched in China last September, offering extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) options starting at RMB 119,900 ($17,190).
Measuring 4,850 mm in length, the pure-electric variant features a 77.94-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack delivering a CLTC-rated range of 600 kilometers.
Changan Mazda's first global model, the Mazda 6e — the overseas version of the EZ-6 sedan — has surpassed 7,000 cumulative sales since its European launch last September, according to the joint venture.
The Changan Mazda EZ-6 was launched in China in October 2024, offering both EREV and BEV configurations.
