In overseas markets, Nio Inc is increasingly relying on its Firefly sub-brand, believing this premium compact EV brand -- priced lower and better suited for urban mobility -- holds greater commercial viability abroad.
Nio will focus on the Chinese market this year while steadily expanding globally, using Firefly as its pioneer brand for international exploration, company management told media outlets including CnEVPost on Tuesday after celebrating the rollout of its 1-millionth vehicle.
The company aims to expand its international footprint to 40 countries and regions by year-end, Nio management told media on Tuesday.
Nio Inc will only enter a new market when commercial viability is assured, and Firefly models can achieve this in most markets, said Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li.
