CATL (HKG: 3750, SHE: 300750) has achieved this year's Choco swap station construction target and raised its 2026 goal as the power battery giant advances its battery swap business.

The company's 1,000th Choco swap station was recently completed in Nanchang, Jiangxi, CATL announced in a statement today.

The business has reached 1,020 battery swap stations in just one year, covering 45 cities, CATL said.

By 2026, CATL aims to reach over 3,000 Choco swap stations across more than 140 cities, according to the company. This target represents an upward revision from previous projections.

On October 21, CATL subsidiary Contemporary Amperex Energy Service Technology (CAES) announced a target of 1,000 battery swap stations by the end of 2025, with plans to operate over 2,500 stations across more than 120 Chinese cities by 2026.

CATL's long-term goal is to reach 30,000 Choco swap stations and open a franchise program, it said today. This long-term target remains unchanged from previous announcements.

CAES said in its statement that it plans to begin large-scale deployment of high-performance sodium-ion batteries based on CATL's Naxtra technology across its battery swap network starting in 2026.

This technology prevents battery fires and explosions, offers exceptional low-temperature performance, and leverages abundant resource reserves, which will revolutionize the battery swap model, CAES said.

CATL also disclosed infrastructure progress for its Qiji Energy heavy-duty truck battery swap business, reporting 305 operational battery swap stations.

Qiji Energy aims to cumulatively build 900 battery swap stations by 2026, CATL said, adding that the business targets covering 80 percent of China's main highway network by 2030.

CATL formally entered the battery swap sector on January 18, 2022, by launching its battery swap brand EVOGO -- operated by its subsidiary CAES.

Late last year, CATL significantly updated its battery swap operations by unveiling two standardized Choco-SEB battery packs and announcing construction targets for battery swap stations.

The company launched Qiji Energy in June 2023 to advance battery swap technology adoption in the heavy-duty truck sector.

On May 18 this year, CATL introduced the #75 standardized battery swap pack for heavy-duty trucks.

Qiji Energy has collaborated with over ten automakers, including FAW Jiefang and Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile, to launch more than 30 models utilizing standardized battery swap packs, according to the company.

In 2026, sodium batteries will be used on a large scale in battery swap, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and energy storage, CATL said.
