- Nio has filed for the Clean Parks Edition of the ET5 and ET5 Touring, potentially commemorating the fourth anniversary of the Clean Parks environmental initiative.
- The launch date for the new variants remains unknown, though December 18 is a noteworthy date to watch.

A regulatory filing indicates Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866) may introduce new Clean Parks Edition variants for its ET5 electric sedan and ET5 Touring wagon.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker filed for the new variant for both models, following the launch of the Champion Edition variant in July, according to regulatory documents released last Friday by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The ET5 and ET5 Touring appear on the specification change list, with the primary alteration being the addition of the "Clean Parks Edition" option alongside the "Champion Edition" for rear badging.
When unveiling the ET5 at Nio Day 2021 on December 18, 2021, Nio announced the launch of the Clean Parks initiative to support ecological conservation in environmentally sensitive areas.
Founder, chairman, and CEO William Li pledged at the time to invest RMB 100 million ($14.1 million) over the following three years to support the adoption of EVs and the development of clean energy infrastructure in global nature reserves.
Nio would assist these areas in establishing self-sustaining, clean, low-carbon energy systems to preserve the authenticity and integrity of ecosystems.
Clean Parks also functions as an open platform, with Nio discussing collaborations with multiple global environmental organizations, the company said at the time.
Over the following years, Nio established partnerships for this initiative with organizations including the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Danish Society for Nature Conservation, the Danish Nature Foundation, and China's Giant Panda National Park.
The ET5 and ET5 Touring Clean Parks Edition models are expected to commemorate this initiative.
No launch date has been announced for the new variant, though December 18 -- the fourth anniversary of the Nio ET5 and Clean Parks initiative -- is a notable date to watch.
Nio launched updated versions of the ET5 sedan and ET5T wagon on May 25, maintaining their starting price of RMB 298,000.
On July 4, Nio rolled out the Champion Edition variants for the ET5, ET5 Touring, and EC6 coupe SUV, each priced higher than their standard counterparts.
The Champion Edition variants commemorate the company's first-ever annual drivers' championship title in the 2015 Formula E Championship.
On October 17, Nio launched a black-themed ET5 Touring inspired by the sci-fi film Tron: Ares, limited to 555 units.
