BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) saw new energy vehicle (NEV) sales hit a new year-to-date high last month, though they remained below the same period last year.
The company sold 480,186 NEVs in November, its highest figure this year, according to data released today.
This represents a 5.25 percent year-on-year decline, marking the third consecutive month of year-on-year contraction, though sales increased by 8.71 percent compared to October.
BYD's NEVs include both passenger and commercial vehicles. Passenger NEVs recorded 474,921 units sold in November, down 5.77 percent year-on-year, though up 8.71 percent month-on-month.
Commercial NEVs sold 5,265 units in November, up 87.97 percent year-on-year and up 8.56 percent month-on-month.
Its November sales of passenger battery electric vehicles (BEVs) reached 237,540 units, a 19.93 percent increase year-on-year and up 6.73 percent growth month-on-month.
Passenger plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sales reached 237,381 units, down 22.41 percent year-on-year -- marking the eighth consecutive month of year-on-year decline -- though up 10.77 percent from October.
The company exported a record 131,935 NEVs in November, a 325.91 percent increase year-on-year and a 57.25 percent rise from October.
Beyond being China's largest NEV manufacturer, BYD also ranks as the nation's second-largest power battery producer.
BYD's power battery and energy storage battery installations in November reached about 27.669 GWh, marking a 23.13 percent year-on-year increase and a 1.12 percent rise from October.
January-November performance
From January to November, BYD sold 4,182,038 NEVs, marking an 11.30 percent year-on-year increase.
Its passenger NEVs sold 4,130,639 units during this period, up 10.42 percent year-on-year.
Commercial NEVs sold 51,399 units, surging 213.29 percent year-on-year.
Passenger BEVs recorded sales of 2,066,002 units from January to November, growing 32.67 percent year-on-year.
Passenger PHEVs totaled 2,064,637 units, down 5.45 percent year-on-year.
BYD sold 912,911 vehicles overseas from January to November, a 153.55 percent increase year-on-year.
Its installed capacity of power batteries and energy storage batteries reached about 258.282 GWh during the same period, up 50.86 percent year-on-year.
