Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI, HKG: 2015) will release its first smart glasses next week, hoping the device will become a window for more users to access its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

The automaker announced today that the AI glasses, named Livis, will be launched on December 3 during an event starting at 7:30 pm Beijing time.

The AI glasses will allow users to wear Li Auto's Lixiang Tongxue virtual voice assistant on their heads, the company said.

Lixiang Tongxue is an AI powered by Li Auto's Mind GPT, answering family questions, assisting with creativity, and featuring a "Children Mode" for kids.

The Livis name echoes Jarvis, signaling Li Auto's ambition to create a comparable assistant. Edwin Jarvis is a fictional character in American comics published by Marvel Comics, most frequently appearing as a supporting character in titles like Iron Man and The Avengers.

Two days ago, Li Auto founder, chairman, and CEO Li Xiang previewed the company's upcoming AI glasses in a video, calling the device Li Auto's best AI accessory.

Li Auto is also considering launching an AI speaker, aiming for broader adoption of its AI capabilities among Li Auto owners, he said.

He further said that Li Auto will not produce smartphones, as the Lixiang Tongxue App is accessible on mobile devices.

Li has repeatedly emphasized Li Auto's goal of becoming a globally leading AI company, asserting that automobiles will evolve from industrial-era transportation tools into spatial robots for the AI era.

Notably, three years ago, Li Auto partnered with a domestic smart glasses manufacturer to integrate smart glasses experiences into its vehicle cabins.

Leiniao Technology, an augmented reality (AR) glasses manufacturer under Chinese consumer electronics giant TCL Electronics Holdings, collaborated with Li Auto in August 2022 to create an immersive in-car cinema experience.

Leiniao Air XR smart glasses were available on Li Auto's online store at the time, enabling users to enjoy a 140-inch screen experience inside the Li L9.

Li Auto acknowledged its slowdown in action during a strategic meeting, planning to speed up product release pace and expand overseas market efforts.
