Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has introduced new color options for the ET9 Horizon Edition, a special variant of its flagship executive sedan, to reinforce its premium positioning.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker announced two new theme colors for the ET9 Horizon Edition on the opening day of the 2025 Guangzhou auto show: one pairing red with gold, and another combining black with silver.
Priced starting at RMB 818,000 ($115,000), or RMB 710,000 under the BaaS (Battery as a Service) plan, these new variants are the same as the standard ET9 Horizon Edition launched in late September.
The ET9 currently offers only a 102-kWh battery pack, with a monthly BaaS battery subscription fee of RMB 1,128.
Nio provides a 10-year free battery swap benefit for these two new color variants of the ET9 Horizon Edition, matching the standard ET9 model.
The ET9 was launched at Nio Day 2024 on December 21, 2024, with deliveries commencing in late March this year.
As one of the highest-priced models from a Chinese automaker, it aims to challenge traditional luxury vehicles including the Mercedes-Maybach.
This market has been largely dominated by German luxury brands for years, but China's rapid electrification has created opportunities for domestic automakers.
On September 20, Nio launched the ET9 Horizon Edition at Nio Day 2025, with a starting price of RMB 818,000 including the battery pack. This represents a RMB 50,000 increase, or 6.51 percent, over the base model's starting price of RMB 768,000.
Beyond these two variants, the ET9 also offers a Signature Edition starting at RMB 788,000.
ET9 delivered 127 units in October, bringing cumulative deliveries since March to 2,282 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
