Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) appears to be accelerating its export momentum with a significant volume increase last month.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker exported 431 vehicles in October, marking a 143.50 percent increase from September's 177 units, according to calculations by CnEVPost based on data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
Nio's domestic retail sales in China came in at 39,966 units in October, according to a CPCA report released yesterday. The company said on November 1 that its October deliveries totaled a higher 40,397 vehicles.
In August, Nio exported 217 vehicles while achieving domestic retail sales of 31,088 units.
Last week, Nio announced its premium boutique car brand Firefly recently shipped a large batch of vehicles to Europe and revealed for the first time that its market expansion efforts will include North America.
The company did not disclose the shipment volume, stating Firefly is deepening market penetration in Europe, North America, and Asia.
Firefly's current sole model was launched in China on April 19 and began deliveries in Europe on August 14, with Norway and the Netherlands as the first available markets.
Nio's domestic peer Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has pursued more aggressive overseas expansion, exporting 4,999 vehicles in October -- its second-highest monthly figure on record, trailing only September's 5,004 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
