Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will debut its extended-range X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) on November 6, and a technology launch event will commence at 7:00 pm Beijing time that evening, the company announced today.
The X9 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) marks Xpeng's first model equipped with the Kunpeng Super Electric System, featuring a 63.3-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack and a 60-liter fuel tank, the company reiterated today.
The model achieves a combined range of 1,602 kilometers, making it the world's longest-range 7-seat vehicle, the company said.
The day prior, Xpeng will host its 2025 AI Day in Guangzhou, its headquarters city, focusing on its advancements in AI.
The X9 initially launched in China on January 1, 2024, as Xpeng's first MPV and its highest-priced model to date.
Currently, only the battery electric vehicle (BEV) version of the MPV is available, with a starting price in China of RMB 359,800 ($50,540). All other current Xpeng models are BEVs.
In August this year, an EREV version of the X9 appeared in a regulatory catalog of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), revealing dimensions of 5,316 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm.
It is longer than the all-electric Xpeng X9's 5,293 mm length, while other dimensions remain identical.
Xpeng unveiled the Kunpeng Super Electric System at its 2024 AI Day in November 2024.
The company also filed for EREV versions of its G7 SUV in September and for EREV versions of the G6 SUV and P7+ sedan in October.
