China NEV retail at 901,000 in Oct 1-26, flat from same period last year

China's new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales for the first 26 days of October remained flat year-on-year as industry growth slowed.

Passenger NEV retail sales in China totaled 901,000 units in the October 1-26 period, flat from the same period last year while down 8 percent month-on-month, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

For reference, from October 1-19, China's passenger NEV retail sales were 632,000 units, up 5 percent year-on-year and up 2 percent month-on-month.

Year-to-date, China's cumulative passenger NEV retail sales stood at 9.77 million units, marking a 22 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs from October 1-26 reached 1.034 million units, up 4 percent year-on-year but down 5 percent month-on-month, according to the CPCA.

Year-to-date wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs have reached 11.48 million units, a 29 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

From October 1-26, China's total passenger vehicle retail sales were 1.613 million units, down 7 percent year-on-year and down 4 percent month-on-month.

Year-to-date, China's total passenger vehicle retail sales were 18.62 million units, an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

This indicates that the retail penetration rate of NEVs in China was 55.9 percent from October 1-26 and 52.5 percent year-to-date.

During the first week of October, October 1-8, China's daily average passenger vehicle retail sales were 43,530 units, down 18 percent year-on-year and down 5 percent month-on-month.

During the second week of October, October 9-12, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales were 84,508 units, up 7 percent year-on-year and up 38 percent compared to the same period last month.

In the third week of October, October 13-19, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales stood at 63,163 units, down 3 percent year-on-year and down 2 percent compared to the same period last month.

During the fourth week of October, October 20-26, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales were 69,271 units, down 9 percent year-on-year and down 22 percent compared to the same period last month.

From October 1-26, China's total passenger vehicle wholesale sales amounted to 1.871 million units, down 1 percent year-on-year and down 5 percent compared to the same period last month.

From October 1-8, China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 30,065 units, down 21 percent year-on-year and down 36 percent compared to the same period last month.

From October 9-12, China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 76,306 units, down 1 percent year-on-year but up 15 percent compared to the same period last month.

From October 13-19, China's daily average wholesale sales of passenger vehicles reached 87,011 units, marking a 1 percent year-on-year increase and an 18 percent rise compared to the same period last month.

From October 20-26, China's daily average wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 102,317 units, reflecting an 8 percent year-on-year increase but a 12 percent decrease compared to the same period last month.

Year-to-date wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in China reached 22.72 million units, up 12 percent compared to the same period last year.

This included over 4,300 units for the Nio main brand, 4,500 units for its sub-brand Onvo, and over 1,500 units for another sub-brand Firefly.
