Major electric vehicle (EV) makers saw insurance registrations rise in China last week, as month-end deliveries typically surge.

During the week of September 22-28 -- week 39 of 2025 -- Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) recorded a record 10,800 vehicle insurance registrations in China, up 61.92 percent from the previous week's 6,670 units, according to figures shared today on Weibo by multiple automotive industry observers.

The Nio main brand recorded 5,200 insurance registrations last week, its highest in 22 weeks, marking a 101.55 percent increase from the previous week's 2,580 units.

The third-generation ES8, launched on September 20, recorded 2,120 insurance registrations last week.

Insurance registrations for the Onvo sub-brand reached 3,800 units last week, the highest in the past five weeks, up 36.69 percent from 2,780 units the previous week.

This included 2,600 units of the Onvo L90 and 1,200 units of the Onvo L60.

Firefly's insurance registrations hit a record 1,800 units last week, up 37.40 percent from 1,310 units the previous week.

Firefly currently offers only one model for sale -- the Firefly EV.

In the first four weeks of September, Nio Inc recorded 29,910 insurance registrations, including 12,735 for the Nio main brand, 11,850 for Onvo, and 5,325 for Firefly.

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) recorded 19,300 insurance registrations in China last week, the highest in the past 13 weeks, representing an 11.56 percent increase from 17,300 units the previous week.

In the first four weeks of September, Tesla's insurance registrations in China totaled 66,250 units.

Tesla launched the six-seat Model Y L in China on August 19 and announced on September 2 that deliveries for this model had commenced.

Customers who order the Model Y L now are expected to receive their vehicles in November, according to information on Tesla China's website.

Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) recorded 11,000 insurance registrations last week, the highest in the past four weeks, up 1.85 percent from 10,800 the previous week.

In the first four weeks of September, Xiaomi's insurance registrations in China totaled 37,790 units.

Last week, a local media outlet reported that Xiaomi's delivery pace would accelerate further as factory production capacity increases.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) brand vehicles recorded 92,400 insurance registrations last week, the highest in the past 40 weeks, up 30.69 percent from 70,700 the previous week.

In the first four weeks of September, BYD brand insurance registrations in China totaled 279,950 units.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) recorded 10,400 insurance registrations last week, the highest in the past 13 weeks, up 13.04 percent from 9,200 the previous week.

In the first four weeks of September, Xpeng insurance registrations in China reached 34,430 units.

Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) recorded 8,600 insurance registrations last week, flat from the previous week.

In the first four weeks of September, Li Auto insurance registrations in China amounted to 31,370 units.

Li Auto launched the Li i8 on July 29 and began deliveries of the six-seat electric SUV on August 20.

It rolled out the five-seat electric SUV Li i6 on September 26 and commenced deliveries on September 27.

Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) achieved a record 16,000 insurance registrations last week, a 24.03 percent increase from the previous week's 12,900.

In the first four weeks of September, Leapmotor's insurance registrations in China totaled 52,720 units.

In the first four weeks of September, Aito insurance registrations in China amounted to 36,900 units.
