Stelato, the new brand jointly developed by Huawei and Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has launched its new S9T wagon and seen decent initial reception.

The brand officially rolled out the S9T at a launch event last night, with a starting price of RMB 309,800 ($43,580) -- lower than the RMB 328,000 pre-sales price -- and deliveries set to begin on September 21.

Shortly after the launch event concluded, Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business announced that the S9T secured over 5,000 firm orders within its first hour.

The S9T is Stelato's second model following the S9 sedan, measuring 5,160 mm in length, 2,005 mm in width, and 1,492 mm in height, with a 3,050 mm wheelbase.

These dimensions are wider than the S9's 1,987 mm width and taller than its 1,486 mm height, while matching its length and wheelbase.

The new model offers four variants: two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions and two battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions. Starting prices are RMB 309,800, RMB 349,800, RMB 329,800, and RMB 369,800 respectively.

The S9T BEV is available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The rear-wheel drive version features a motor with a maximum power output of 227 kW (304 horsepower), while the all-wheel drive version adds a front motor with a maximum power output of 158 kW. They can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.92 seconds and 3.95 seconds, respectively.

The S9T BEV features a 100-kWh Huawei Giant Whale battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 801 km or 701 km.

The S9T EREV is available only as a rear-wheel-drive model, equipped with Huawei's Xuexiao extended-range system. It incorporates a 1.5-liter engine as the range extender, paired with a rear motor delivering a maximum power of 227 kW.

The S9T EREV offers two options with 37-kWh and 53.4-kWh batteries, delivering CLTC ranges of 251 km and 354 km respectively.

With a full tank and fully charged battery, the S9T EREV achieves a combined CLTC range of 1,225 km or 1,305 km.

The model is among the first to feature Huawei's ADS 4 smart driving system, launched this April with four capability tiers.

The system's hardware includes one 192-channel LiDAR, three high-precision solid-state LiDARs, and five 4D millimeter-wave radars.

Stelato is one of five automotive brands under the HIMA umbrella, alongside Seres Group's Aito, Chery's Luxeed, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC)'s Maextro, and SAIC's Shangjie.

On August 6, 2024, Stelato launched its first model, the Stelato S9, targeting the premium sedan market with a current starting price of RMB 309,800.

The Stelato S9T is the station wagon variant of the Stelato S9. This market segment was once niche but is now seeing an increasing number of available models.

On August 18, Stelato announced it had officially opened pre-orders for the S9T, reporting over 10,000 reservations within one hour.

On August 19, the company announced that within 24 hours of opening pre-orders, the Stelato S9T had secured over 20,000 reservations.
